Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor and anchor and. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a diploma of English literature. In the year 1967, Mitchell began her career as a reporter with KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. In 1976, she joined CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV located in Washington DC (then WTOP). In Washington she was named general reporter by NBC News two year later. Beginning in 1981 she started reporting from the White House. In 1988, she became head of the congressional reporters. Mitchell was appointed chief White House reporter in 1992, and chief Foreign Affairs reporter for NBC News. Mitchell is a regular on the TV news program Meet the Press as a panelist and host. Mitchell was a panelist during 1988's presidential debates, that pitted George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell was married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. In 2005, Mitchell was awarded the prestigious Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government as well as in 2004 she was awarded the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) honored Mitchell with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition of her contribution to the protection of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was a reporter at in the White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988, in the two years that Ronald Reagan served as president. She covered many notable stories such as arms control, budget taxes and the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also attended many summits with the help of the President Reagan together with Mikhail Gorbachev.
